The combination of indoor heating and cold weather outside tends to result in dry hair that is prone to split ends and breakage – which is why the team at Robert Byrne Hairdressing have come up with some top tips to help.
Top tip #1: Have a weekly in-salon deep conditioning treatment
Dry and brittle hair needs an injection of moisture. You can buy some good conditioners at our salon shop, but if you’re looking for longer-lasting results, have an in-salon treatment.
The treatments we recommend are Philip Kingsley Elastizer or Carin Bio Protein Hair Mask – both are pre-shampoo treatments and really excellent!
Top tip #2: Cut down on the use of heating appliances
Cut down on the use of hairdryers, styling wands and tongs because these can dry out your hair and cause it to break. If you have to style your hair, smooth some heat protection cream through it first. Split ends love to be treated with our Botéa Pure Repair and Shine Silk Serum 0.5 containing Argan and Jojoba oils. Or, even better, have your hair trimmed at Robert Byrne Hairdressing salon in Navan.
Top tip #3: Dry your hair thoroughly before going outside
Make sure your hair is completely dry before you venture into the cold air. The cold air will dry out your hair and make it more likely to break. Give your hair further protection by hiding it away beneath a hat or scarf. Silk scarves are a brilliant way of protecting your hair and your hairstyle should remain pretty much intact underneath it!
Top tip #4: Eat plenty of fruit and vegetables!
We all know now that we should be eating at least five servings of fruit and vegetables a day for a healthy diet… but did you know that the vitamins in your 5-a-day will also help your hair to become shinier and stronger?
